I’m Birgitte Thoelen. I’m a HCPC and BAAT registered Art Therapist, workshop facilitator, educator, presenter and artist.
In my professional career (Bachelor degree) in the performing arts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; I explored expression and form through movement. Later I obtained a Master’s in Art Therapy in Melbourne, Australia where other modalities such as visual arts, sand tray, play, sound, creative writing, sculpting and meditation were added to embodied experiencing. My work experience ranges from a workshop facilitation in the corporate sector, community and dementia care support work to working as an integrative therapist in acute and rehabilitation hospitals as well as talking therapies for the NHS SPFT.
My “why” is to help you achieve all that you can be. I am deeply grateful for a career and life I truly love, and much of that fulfilment comes from applying the same transformative practices and skills I now share with my clients. I’m here as both a guide and proof of what’s possible, living an authentic, aligned life and helping others do the same.
Although trained as a psychotherapist and low intensity CBT therapist, I have naturally transitioned to woman-centred coaching.
In my own life’s journey and professional practice, I value cultivating a way of living that focuses on seeing beauty in imperfection and holding the acceptance of change with kindness. In Japanese culture they repair broken pottery with gold. The ‘kintsugi’ philosophy embraces breakage and repair as part of the history of something. The imperfection does not need to be disguised. This concept also inspired my own creations throughout the website.
Let’s work together and give ourselves permission to be brilliant and imperfect, to uncover your true potential and craft a path toward the impactful, fulfilling life you’re meant to live.
